30 years ago Mario Bros. went Super and today, 13th September 2015, celebrates its 30th anniversary! Mario Bros. already had an arcade game out in '83 and of course Mario had previously been in the early Donkey Kong games since '81. But Super Mario Bros. for the NES I think is the one that really hit it off and the first Mario Bros. game I played.
Here's my tribute to Super Mario Bros. for it's anniversary. The characters are a mix of their in game designs and box art designs. I wanted Bowser as how he appeared on the box as it's completely different colouring to the Bowser we know nowadays. Also for the younger viewers as why there looks like two Mario's, it's because this early on in the Mario Bros. series, Luigi was still just a palette swap of Mario. Luigi soon came into his own as we all know.
Mario & Luigi appear here with Bowser, Blooper, Bullet Bill, Buzzy Beetle, Cheep Cheep, Fire Bar, Goomba, Hammer Brother, Koopa Paratroopa, Koopa Troopa, Lakitu, Lava Bubble, Piranha Plant, Spiny, Spiny Egg...just missing a Bill Blaster, otherwise all enemies are shown.
Super Mario Bros. will always be a favourite and I still bring out my NES to have a go along with Duck Hunt...man the nostalgia!
Thanks Nintendo for hours upon hours of fun and even the fustration...you made me a better platform jumper!
